How do I know the service was actually done? I want proof
This page explains a situation in an editorial format. It is not an open discussion board or a verified customer review. Contact us on WhatsApp about your own appliance.
I am an older man and rather distrustful. I live in Băneasa, 4-storey block, alone; the unit is a 12,000 BTU Fujitsu my children installed 9 years ago. My daughter in Germany pays for the service but wants to see that something was actually done. What can I ask for so I am not cheated, without standing over the man's shoulder?
What is really happening
The difference between a service that was done and one that was 'ticked' shows in the water. On a 9-year-old unit, pressure-washing the evaporator and roller brings out a few litres of black-green water; if nothing ran out of the unit, nothing was cleaned. The second proof is the fan roller: visible through the bottom grille with a torch, it is the dirtiest part of the unit and the easiest to check. The third is temperature: after cleaning, the air at the grille is 8–12 °C colder than the air drawn in.
- Inspection: assessing condition and symptoms.
- Service check: checks and measurements appropriate to the unit.
- Cleaning: removing deposits.
- Sanitising: suitable treatment of cleaned surfaces.
The actual scope is confirmed before the visit.
- The blower (cross-flow fan) is the most fungus-contaminated component of a split unit, more than the filter or the front of the evaporator. [Indoor Air, 2023]
- Washing with alkaline detergent, brushing and high-pressure rinsing reduces fungi inside the unit by more than 99%. [Indoor Air, 2023]
- Replacing a dirty, clogged filter with a clean one can lower an air conditioner's energy consumption by 5–15% (US DOE). [US Department of Energy – Energy Saver, 2024]
- Professional cleaning of split-unit components substantially reduced bacterial and fungal counts on all measured components. [Frontiers in Public Health / PubMed Cent, 2024]
What we do on site
- On arrival we photograph the evaporator, roller and pan and send the photos to your daughter on WhatsApp if you give us the number.
- Sealed double cover, hose to the white bucket (white precisely so the water colour is visible), foil on the floor.
- Alkaline cleaner, adjustable pressure wash of evaporator and roller, pan and condensate hose flushed, sanitising, filters washed.
- The outdoor unit on the facade: washed in place.
- At the end: 'after' photos, a photo of the bucket with clear rinse water, the grille temperature written on paper and sent on WhatsApp too. See current rates on the Prices page.
What you can do yourself
- Before anyone comes, look at the roller through the bottom grille with a torch; afterwards, look again.
- Ask to be shown the bucket at the end.
What NOT to do
- Do not pay if no cover was used and no water came out of the unit – nothing was cleaned.
- Do not accept 'we used a special solution, it does not need washing'.
Prevention
Once a year, in spring; at 9 years the unit deserves the care and will run for a long time yet.
When to call us
Your daughter can call 0764 012 943 directly, Monday–Saturday 08:00–20:00, and we will arrange it with her; Băneasa is close.
