• Filters removed and washed with lukewarm water, fully dry before refitting
• Louver and grille wiped with a damp cloth; black spots on the edge = book a sanitising
• Unit run 10 minutes on cooling with the window open: smell at start-up?
• A torch beam through the louver: dust or lint coming out?
• Under the unit and on the wall: water marks or stains?
• Outdoor unit: fins visible, no fluff, leaves or thick dust
• Nothing covers the outdoor unit (tarps, objects, plants)
• Remote: new batteries, cooling mode, 24–26 °C, airflow towards the ceiling
• Hygrometer in the bedroom: 40–60%
• Last professional sanitising: under 12 months (6 for children/allergies)
